I checked out this website mentioned in the New York Times. It's a simple message but speaks volumes.

thestoryofstuff.com has a video with this lady named Annie Leonard and I believe it should be watched! So please check it out. So far, I have not seen a better explanation of how our world (typically North Americans) goes about producing stuff for us to consume and then throw out. Its insane!
