Blog

While Rick and I were away in Scarborough this weekend I read an article in Wired Magazine titled "The Web Is Dead. Long Live The Internet." Interesting notion I thought - I always had it in my mind that the internet and the web came as a package - as one! However, what this article clarified for me was the fact that the web is actually more of an application so to speak, instead of the internet itself.

I just finished reading this article in The New York Times about housing. I especially find this kind of stuff interesting as I often foresee myself as a future home owner when Rick and I are no longer travelling. I have always viewed owning a home as not only a place to live, but as a way of making a major financial investment (as I think most people do).

Today was one of those days where I've been having moments of feelings of se-realness. You know when it suddenly dawns on you that you're in a place in a particular situation and you don't know how you got there? You had been planning for this moment for some time and even though the plans had followed through, the emotions and reality of the whole situation just didn't seem real until a particular moment.

Ever since we arrived in London, its no secret I've wanted to leap and frolic through the stores on Oxford street and buy all clothes and shoes and handbags in sight! However, there is a slight problem with this fantasy though....

a) Its impossible to leap and frolic anywhere near Oxford street since its the most crowded shopping industry I've ever seen - its so bad in fact, the city is planning on creating lanes for "shopping walking traffic." That's right - shoppers to the side where the stores are and people who need to get by closer to the street!

I've been getting a lot of questions from family and friends about what our home is like here in London. More specifically, how are we getting by without a dryer. Yes, it's true, instead of your conventional washer and dryer we have 2 washers! That's right 2 washing machines.

It's no secret I've been a huge Apple computer snob for the past few years. Together Rick and I own/have owned a slew of their products including a couple of iPods, iPhones, a few notebook computers, a keyboard, a couple of mice, Apple TV, etc. you get the idea - we love our Apple gadgets. I grew up using PC's and after purchasing what used to be my beloved black Apple MacBook 3 years ago (it was recently stolen from me), I swear I will never go back. I know, they say, "never say never." Hopefully one day I won't have to eat my words.

Rick enlightened me with this new blog he thought I would find funny. I sure am amused by it! I only hope one day that I am this creative with my potential children. How does she do it without waking up the baby? I'm impressed!

Mila's Daydreams

The photo from her blog is titled "Book Worm!" Although, I think Nirvana & Candyland are my favorites so far.

Today I was talking towards the tube station in my neighbourhood to go check out what the commute was going to be like for a potential job I'm being interviewed for on Friday. We'll little did I know I would be walking with sticky feet for most of the trip!

Lately as a result of too much job hunting, I find ways to take little procrastination breaks. Job hunting is really overrated, that's really all I can say about that. One of the ways I've been distracting myself is by creating new playlists in iTunes. I thought I would share my latest list which is comprised of most of the music I've been listening to lately. I should really figure out how to put up the mp3's here so you can sample them, but my web geek side isn't feeling so geek at the moment so you just get the typed list.

It's so interesting being a in city where the transportation runs in tunnels that have been around since the 1800s. Truly the tube system in London is something to really think about. It gets you anywhere in London you need to go and without allowing you to get lost while your at it. I always get lost. I'm notorious for being horrible with directions and finding my way around. To be honest the thought of moving to London scared me purely for this reason alone. I was sure I would get lost every day being in such a large city. So far, so good, I haven't gotten lost once! Why?
